7.2.8. The sensor of temperature of the soaked-up air (IAT sensor)

GENERAL INFORMATION

The IAT sensor represents the thermoresistor which resistance increases at fall of temperature.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. On 4-cylinder engines disconnect the socket which is in the air filter from the sensor, check sensor resistance at various temperatures (See the table of Value of resistance of serviceable sensors of temperature of the soaked-up air and cooling liquid at various temperatures on 4-cylinder engines), blowing in the sensor, for example, the hair dryer. If resistance of the sensor changes with a temperature disproportionately, then it should be replaced.
2. On 6-cylinder engines disconnect the socket from the sensor, check sensor resistance at various temperatures, having attached an ohmmeter to conclusions of the 4 and 5 sensor, and compare with tabular (see the table of Value of resistance of serviceable sensors of temperature of the soaked-up air and cooling liquid at various temperatures on 6-cylinder engines). If resistance of the sensor does not correspond tabular, then it should be replaced.

Replacement (4-cylinder engines)
Prevention

On 6-cylinder engines the IAT sensor is executed in the uniform module with the air consumption sensor.


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Switch off ignition.
2. Disconnect the socket and remove the sensor.
