2.32. Check and adjustment of gaps of valves

GENERAL INFORMATION

Gaps of final valves of the first and third cylinders and gaps of inlet valves of the first and second cylinders (four-cylinder engine)

Gaps of valves (six-cylinder engine)
1. Right head, final valves

2. Right head, inlet valves

3. Left head, inlet valves

4. Left head, final valves

Gaps of valves of the 4-cylinder engine (remained)
 IN – Inlet valves

 EX – Final valves

Gaps of valves of the 6-cylinder engine (remained)
 IN – Inlet valves

 EX – Final valves

The gaps of valves of the 6-cylinder engine which (remained) – 2

 EX – Final valves

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect a wire of the minus plug of the accumulator.
2. In four-cylinder models disconnect wires of spark plugs.
3. In six-cylinder engines merge cooling liquid and remove the air filter. Disconnect wires of spark plugs of a back row of cylinders and remove wires and coils of ignition of candles of a forward row.
4. Unscrew spark plugs.
5. Uncover a head.
6. Install the N1 cylinder piston in the provision of VMT at the time of a compression step.
7. Measure a gap of each of valves by means of a set of probes.
8. On models with the four-cylinder engine turn a bent shaft on one whole revolution and combine adjusting marks in a pulley of a bent shaft. Measure gaps of the remained valves (see rice. Gaps of valves of the 4-cylinder engine (remained)).
9. On models with the six-cylinder engine turn a bent shaft on 2/3 turns (240 degrees) clockwise. Measure gaps of the specified valves (see rice. Gaps of valves of the 6-cylinder engine (remained)). Turn a bent shaft on 2/3 turns and measure gaps of the remained valves (see rice. The gaps of valves of the 6-cylinder engine which (remained) – 2).

10. Turn a bent shaft so that the cam over the valve demanding adjustment was lifted up.

11. Turn the valve elevator a cut to a spark plug. Install the tool and you press the elevator. Squeeze the elevator the special tool to remove laying.
12. Remove laying by means of the small screw-driver or a magnet.
13. Measure laying thickness by means of a micrometer.
14. Calculate the required thickness of new laying by the following formula:
N = T + (A – V)
T = thickness of an old washer
A = valvate gap
N = thickness of a new washer
V = the recommended valvate gap.
15. Establish new laying, and repeatedly check a valvate gap.
