GENERAL INFORMATION

Sequence of tightening of bolts of covers of radical bearings (6-cylinder engines)

Sequence of tightening of side bolts of covers of radical bearings (6-cylinder engines)

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Before removing a bent shaft, measure its free wheeling by means of the special device (the drawing at the left) or by means of the probe near the persistent bearing (the drawing on the right). If the gap more than is required, examine half rings of the persistent bearing on wear existence if half rings are not worn-out, it is necessary to establish new to adjust a gap.
2. Covers of radical bearings have to be numbered on increasing, from a forward cover to back if it not so, number them. Usually on covers there is an arrow which is directed towards a forward part of the engine. Weaken bolts of covers in stages on a quarter of a turn at one time.
3. In six-cylinder engines bolts of covers (arrow) are located the block of cylinders on each side. Unscrew these bolts first of all in the sequence of return that which is specified in the drawing (see rice. Sequence of tightening of bolts of covers of radical bearings (6-cylinder engines)).
4. Then unscrew other bolts of covers in the sequence of the return sequence of tightening (see rice. Sequence of tightening of side bolts of covers of radical bearings (6-cylinder engines)).
5. Uncover and get inserts of bearings.
6. Remove a bent shaft.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Clear a bent shaft solvent and dry up it compressed air.
2. Examine bearings of a bent shaft on existence of wear tracks, scratches, corrosion or cracks.
3. Remove jags around lubricant openings and clean openings solvent.
4. Examine a bent shaft on existence of cracks or other damages.
5. Measure diameters of radical and conrod bearings. To reveal conicity and ovality, measure diameter of each of bearings in several points. If necessary the bent shaft needs to be processed in a specialized workshop.
6. Check necks of epiploons of a bent shaft for existence of wear tracks or damages. If epiploons wiped flutes on necks, then new epiploons will pass oil.
