3.3.17. Radical bearings of a bent shaft

GENERAL INFORMATION

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Establish new inserts of radical bearings.
2. Clear a bent shaft, bearings and lubricant openings, then accurately install a bent shaft on bearings.
3. Put a plastic piece on each of radical bearings along a shaft axis.
4. Establish covers of radical bearings, trying not to shift plastic. Tighten fixing bolts of covers till the required inhaling moment in the specified sequence (see rice. Sequence of tightening of bolts of covers of radical bearings (4-cylinder engines), rice. Sequence of tightening of bolts of the block of covers of radical bearings (6-cylinder engines), rice. Sequence of tightening of side bolts of covers of radical bearings (6-cylinder engines). Do not turn a bent shaft.
5. In 6-cylinder engines after you tightened bolts till the required moment of an inhaling of the first step, hold on on a quarter of a turn.
6. Unscrew bolts, and accurately uncover.

7. Compare width of the crushed film to a special scale for determination of size of a lubricant gap.
8. If the size of a gap does not conform to technical requirements, establish inserts of other size. If necessary bearings can be ground.
9. Carefully remove film traces from a shaft and bearings.

Final installation of a bent shaft

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Accurately remove a bent shaft.
2. Clear a surface of inserts and oil them lubricant or engine. Check that bearings of a bent shaft were pure and establish a bent shaft into place. Grease and establish the lower inserts. Establish persistent half rings.
3. Install persistent half rings in a cover of the third bearing in 4-cylinder engines, and in 6-cylinder – in a cover of the second bearing.
4. Establish covers of radical bearings. Shooters of covers have to be directed towards a forward part of the engine. Insert and tighten bolts of covers of all radical bearings till the required inhaling moment in the specified sequence (see rice. Sequence of tightening of bolts of covers of radical bearings (4-cylinder engines), rice. Sequence of tightening of bolts of the block of covers of radical bearings (6-cylinder engines), rice. Sequence of tightening of side bolts of covers of radical bearings (6-cylinder engines).
5. Do not forget to establish new sealing washers on side six-sided bolts.
6. Turn a bent shaft a hand several times and check ease of the course.
7. Check an axial side play of a bent shaft and establish a back epiploon.
