3.4.9. System of a charge of the battery

GENERAL INFORMATION

The system of a charge consists of the generator of the alternating current which is built in the generator of the regulator of tension, a control chain of a charge, batteries, a fusible crossing point and connecting wires. At collaboration of these devices food of such consumers as system of ignition, devices of lighting and alarm systems, the radio receiver, etc. is provided. The drive of the generator is carried out from a belt in a forward part of the engine.

The regulator of tension is intended for maintenance of tension of the generator at the set level. At sharp increase in tension at the generator exit the regulator prevents throws of current and an overload in a power-supply circuit.

Periodic care of system of a charge as a rule is not required. However, it is necessary to examine periodically a generator drive belt, the battery and connecting wires.

The control lamp of a charge on the dashboard lights up at inclusion of ignition and after launch of the engine dies away. If the lamp does not die away after launch of the engine, then in a chain of a charge is faulty. Some cars are equipped with the voltmeter. If the voltmeter shows very high or very low voltage, then the chain of a charge needs check.


Prevention

At connection of the battery with the generator always observe polarity of connection.

Before repair of any site of the car electric welding disconnect wires from the generator and the battery.

It is forbidden to start the engine at the connected charger.

The generator is attached directly to the battery therefore at a zakorachivaniye of conclusions of the generator, or at its overload, formation of an arch and the fire is possible.


Check

At malfunction of a chain of a charge of the battery before drawing a conclusion on failure of the generator execute the following checks.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Check a condition of the battery, a state and reliability of fastening of wires and sockets.
2. Check a state and a tension of a belt of the generator. At detection of signs of wear replace a belt.
3. Check an inhaling of bolts of the generator.
4. Start the engine and check the sound made by the generator.
5. Check fusible crossing points, at detection of the fused crossing points of inserts find out the reason and eliminate.
6. Check tension on the battery on the idle engine which has to be about 12,5 Century.
7. Connect the ampermeter and the voltmeter, start the engine and check tension which has to be from 13,5 to 15 In at current no more than 10 And.
8. Turn on driving beam of headlights, the conditioner and a heater. During the normal work of system of a charge tension has to be not less than 13,5 In at current about 30 And.
9. If voltage over 15 V, then replace tension regulator.

10. If tension is lower normal, then connect a conclusion of F to weight and start the engine.
11. If tension normal, then replace tension regulator. If tension still low, then the generator is faulty.
