10.3. ABS system

GENERAL INFORMATION

The system of an automatic unblocking of brakes (ABS system), is intended for increase in stability of the car in the conditions of sharp braking or at the movement in bad road conditions. It is provided that pressure in a contour of brakes is regulated depending on the speed of rotation of wheels registered by sensors.

System ABS-units

AKTYUATOR

The main cylinder, the electrohydraulic pump and 4 solenoidal valves are a part of an aktyuator.
Prevention

The ABS systems are delivered by Bosch and Nippondenso. Aktyuator of system of Bosch has monoblock execution and contains the built-in processor control unit and the relay of solenoidal valves whereas in the Nippondenso system these components are mounted separately.


The electric pump is intended for pumping of liquid in aktyuator receivers through which liquid under pressure moves in a contour of brakes.

Solenoidal valves operate pressure in a contour of brakes at operation of the ABS system, the block of valves contains 4 valves, it is the share of a wheel on 1 valve.

SENSORS OF SPEED OF ROTATION OF WHEELS

Sensors of rotor type, are mounted on each of wheels. Signals from sensors arrive on the control unit.

Forward sensors are mounted on a rotary fist, near gear rings of rotors. Rotors are structurally combined with forward external CV JOINTS of half shafts.

Back sensors are mounted on arms of a back axis, rotors are structurally combined with a back nave.

ABS SYSTEM CONTROL UNIT

The control unit of the Nippondenso system is mounted under a forward partition of a body, the control unit of the Bosch system is mounted in an aktyuator. On the block signals from the switch of a signal of braking and sensors of speed of each wheel arrive. These signals are basic data for adjustment of pressure in a hydraulic actuator of this wheel. The control unit also possesses function of self-diagnostics and storing of refusals.

At system failure the control lamp on the dashboard lights up, and in memory the code of refusal which can be considered and defined the nature of malfunction or faulty knot is brought.

Diagnostic codes

The code of malfunction is stored in memory before deleting of contents of cells of memory, or before malfunction elimination.

At inclusion of ignition the control lamp of the ABS system lights up, and after launch of the engine dies away. If the lamp continues to burn, then in the ABS system malfunction is registered.

For access to codes of refusals transfer the ignition key to position of OFF (the engine does not work). In the Nippondenso system get a crossing point (you watch the photo) conclusions of the diagnostic socket. On systems of both types you peremknit conclusions of E1 and the CU of the socket, transfer the ignition key to position of ON (the engine is not started) and consider codes.

Figures of a two-digit code are determined by number of the blinkings of a control lamp divided by a pause in 1,5 sec. (for example a code 34 – 3 flashes, a pause 1,5 sec. and 4 flashes).
The following code (with one more malfunction) appears in 2,5 sec. after the first. If the system is serviceable, then the lamp blinks with the period of 0,5 pages.

Determine the nature of refusal by the enclosed table.

After reading erase codes for what you peremknit conclusions of E1 and the CU of the socket, transfer the ignition key to position of ON (the engine is not started) and press a pedal not less than 8 times during 5 sec. Remove a crossing point and put into place a socket cover. Hand over the car in car service.
